Our Mission
The UCR Undocumented Student Programs supports undocumented students and immigration-impacted students to succeed in higher education and prepare for post-graduation.
Our History
UCR Undocumented Student Programs' history is deeply rooted in a legacy of undocumented student activism, both nationwide and at UCR, that far
surpasses the history of our physical space. Our center would not exist without the countless undocumented students, allies, staff, faculty, and administrators who championed the foundation and growth of what is now known as Undocumented Student Programs (USP) at UCR.
In May 2015, following demands from undocumented student activists on campus, USP was established as an extension of the Chicano Student Programs (CSP) office. A UCR alumna was hired as the first Program Coordinator for USP that same year. In 2019, the UCR Highlander Empower Student Services Referendum, which included additional funding for USP, successfully passed, securing enrollment-based funding for the office.
In 2020, USP officially became its own entity under the leadership of the Program Coordinator, who was promoted to Director of the space. By 2021, the office was fully staffed with two professional staff members, firmly establishing itself as a dedicated student resource center on campus.
Today, USP proudly celebrates a decade of service, marked by countless milestones, barriers broken, and a sustained commitment to uplifting the undocumented student community and the UCR community as a whole. As the office looks toward the future, it remains dedicated to advocating for, supporting, and empowering every student who walks through its doors.
