UCR Immigration Attorney: Alfonso Maldonado Silva
Alfonso graduated from UCR in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy Law and Society and graduated from Western State College of Law in 2017. During law school, Alfonso successfully argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 2017. He then went on to represent asylum seekers, including unaccompanied minors, in removal proceedings. As a former DACA recipient, he is driven to provide the immigrant community with access to adequate legal representation. Learn more about Alfonso’s journey.
UCR Immigration DOJ Accredited Representative: Lorena Rosas
Lorena is a DOJ Accredited Representative and is an alumna from UC Riverside holding a master’s in public policy. She first attended Mt. San Jacinto College and later transferred to CSU San Bernardino where she completed her bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Lorena's personal experience has shaped her into an advocate for immigrant rights. She is a founding and board member of the first undocumented alumni chapter in the CSU system. Her mission is to continue active participation in the immigrant rights movement, encouraging support and communicating available resources to her community.
About UC Immigrant Legal Services Center
The UC Immigrant Legal Services Center currently serves nine out of 10 UC campuses, including UC Riverside. The Center is headquartered at the UC Davis School of Law. However, UCR’s immigration attorney is stationed at UCR’s campus. The Center provides immigration-related legal representation at no cost to:
- Undocumented and Immigrant students currently enrolled in the UC system.
- Immediate family members* of any UC student, including students who come from a mixed-status family.
*Immediate family members include spouses, parents, siblings, and children.
Note: The UC Immigrant Legal Service Center only provides immigration assistance to enrolled UC students and their immediate family members.

Emergency legal services for Deportation/Detention
Access Emergency legal services for Deportation/Detention
If an immigration officer detains a UCR student or their immediate family member, please contact the UCR Attorney, Alfonso Maldonado. In these emergency cases, text “emergency: detained by immigration” to his work cellphone: (530) 574-9134. If calling, please leave a voicemail with your name and phone number.

Advance Parole
Currently UC Immigrant Legal Service Center is only assisting with advance parole (study abroad) opportunities on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested in advance parole requests please email usp@ucr.edu for the appointment link.
